BBC sites are neither ‘new’ or ‘ultra-local’

By Press Gazette

I note that in your interview with Carolyn McCall, GMG, you refer to the BBC‘s plans for “a new network of 65 ultra-local websites”.

The BBC’s plans, which are subject to approval by the BBC Trust, are not for sites which are ultra-local, but are based on areas which replicate the area covered by our BBC Local radio stations. Neither are these websites new. The vast majority have been part of our local offering for the past seven years.
