The daughter of pop star Sting has won what is claimed to be a five-figure sum in costs and damages after suing Associated Newspapers over allegations she was in a relationship with Pete Doherty.
Apologies were published in the Evening Standard and its free sister paper, London Lite, following suggestions that Doherty had spent time at the Glastonbury festival in the tent belonging to 17-year-old Coco Sumner.
Coco, who recently signed to Island Records, is expected to release her first album early next year.
Ian Monk, spokesman for Coco’s mother Trudie Styler, said: ‘Her family feels there is a simple point of principle that Coco should be free in the future properly to publicise her music without baseless and untrue stories printed about her.”
The damages will go to charity.
