Two former members of the Jackson Five are planning to sue the Daily Star, just over a week after it printed an unprecedented front page apology to the family of missing girl Madeline McCann.
Jermaine and Tito Jackson have instructed their lawyers to ‘take all necessary action’against the Express Newspapers title for ‘untrue and defamatory’allegations published in yesterday’s paper.
The paper led with a front page story yesterday headlined ‘Jackson five hit the skids’that claimed that all five members of the hit 1970s group were facing financial difficulties. The piece was labelled as ‘Another Daily Star showbiz exclusive”.
Legal firm Swan Turton said the pair were particularly annoyed by the suggestion that Tito is playing gigs for £250 a night and that Jermaine is still living off his earnings from an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother last year. Lawyer Jonathan Coad said the Jacksons ‘strenuously deny’the allegations.
