Actor Max Beesley has launched a legal battle for libel damages from the message board and newsletter Popbitch.
He is suing over a story emailed out on 11 October headed ‘Boney M to the rescue’and ‘Maxed out Beesley makes beeline for beauties”, which he claims was defamatory.
Beesley, who currently lives in California, is also seeking an injunction banning repetition of the allegations at the centre of his claim, or any similar allegations. The actor, who starred in the BBC production of Tom Jones and in the series Hotel Babylon, limits his claim to damages to £50,000. The writ was issued by Schillings.
