BBC Radio Five Live presenter Jane Garvey is leaving the station after 13 years to spend more time with her family.
Garvey – who was the first voice to be heard on the station when it launched in March 1994 – started out as a presenter on the Five Live breakfast show before moving to the afternoon drivetime slot with Peter Allen in 2002.
“I’m very proud of Five Live and of everything we’ve achieved,” Garvey said. “It’s easy to forget how many people thought the concept was bound to fail. In fact, the station has a unique bond with its audience and I’m happy I played a part in that.”
Garvey is married to Five Live colleague Adrian Chiles, and they have two daughters. Her drivetime show with Peter Allen has picked up six Sony Awards over the years.
She will be replaced by Anita Anand, who moves from the late-night slot.
Five Live controller Bob Shennan said: “It’s the end of an era and I am really sad to lose Jane. She is a fantastic broadcaster and has played a major part in the station since its launch. I hope she will be back on it at some stage in the future.
“The news and sport station has also announced that former Blue Peter presenter Richard Bacon is to get a new late-night programme, four nights a week, from next month.
Bacon, who has presented various shows on the station in the past three years, will front a new show from 10pm to 1am on Mondays to Thursdays.
Sky Sports presenter Gabby Logan will present a new two-hour news programme on Sunday mornings in the New Year.
