ITV News correspondent Shiulie Ghosh has become the latest British journalist to be headhunted by Al Jazeera International.

Ghosh, who joined ITV News as a general reporter in January 1998, was today announced as the new news anchor at the Doha based company.

Ghosh said in a statement: "I'm thrilled to be joining Al Jazeera International and to be part of this exciting television project which will balance the information flow from South to North, bridging the cultures for English speakers around the world.

Shiulie joins an ever-expanding team of international reporters who will front programmes on the channel when it launches, including Sir David Frost, Rageh Omaar and Richard Gizbert.

Ghosh joins Al Jazeera International from ITV News where she was a correspondent and a presenter covering a range of major events from around the world.
