Indy on Sunday goes tabloid

By Press Gazette

The Independent on Sunday is to go tabloid, like its sister daily
from 16 October. It is only the second quality Sunday paper to go
tabloid.

The first to try was the Sunday Correspondent which went tabloid back in August 1990 but folded In November of the same year.

The
tabloid IoS will comprise a 104-page main news section including
comment, news review and sport. The paper will also include a new
24-page pull-out travel section, plus a separate business section, and
two magazines, the ABC arts review and the Sunday Review

Ivan
Fallon, chief executive of Independent News &Media, said “We had
always intended to turn the Sunday into a compact newspaper, and
conditions are now favourable to do so. This move will further enhance
our company’s reputation for innovation, and we look forward to solid
circulation gains.”

Tristan Davies, editor of the Independent
on Sunday, added: “This is the moment that everybody on the Sunday
paper has been waiting for. We are delighted to be first into the
Sunday market with a new-format newspaper and look forward to
replicating the success of the ground-breaking daily Independent.”
