The last family-owned weekly newspapers in the Scottish Borders have been sold to the fast-growing Dunfermline Press group.
The Galashiels-based Border Telegraph, its sister paper the Peeblesshire News, and the Haddington based East Lothian Courier were sold for an undisclosed sum.
The decision to put all three titles on the market followed the death this year of Ken Whitson.
Deirdrie Romanes, chief executive of Dunfermline Press, told Press Gazette : “We have paid a generous price in a competitive arena to make this purchase.”
