A £450,000 appeal by the Scottish Daily Record to send a two-year-old Scottish girl to the US for life-saving treatment for leukaemia has already topped £375,000.
The Save Our Sara appeal for Dunfermline toddler Sara Thackray has touched the hearts of the Daily Record’s readership across the globe, with substantial donations from countries as far apart as the US and Saudi Arabia.
Sara has been given only two months to live without a bone marrow transplant. Her best hope lies with pioneering stem-cell treatment in North Carolina.
Her parents, Lynne and Grant, have already raised £50,000, but at least another £400,000 is needed to give Sara a fighting chance.
The Daily Record told readers: “We have been inundated with donations, not just of cash, but of goods and services to help raise money for Sara. We are working out the best ways of using these offers to help generate the maximum amount for the appeal.”
