A fortnightly magazine aimed at public sector managers and senior politicians has been launched.
Public Servant, published by PSCSA International, will be distributed to offices at Whitehall, local authorities and other public bodies, with the aim of strengthening links between Whitehall and the regions.
Boris Johnson, editor of The Spectator, BBC political correspondent John Pienaar and Ray Mallon, the former Middlesbrough Mayor famous for his zero tolerance policy, have been signed up as guest columnists.
Editor David Allaby is heading a 10strong editorial team in Newcastle under Lyme.
He said: “There is still a great deal to be done in bringing policy and practice and central and local government together.”
Editorial will include profiles with leading figures such as committee chairmen and ministers as well as presenting two sides of the debate on policy and practice implications.
Public Servant will have a controlled circulation of 25,000.
Prior to the launch Allaby worked on the Sunday Express and the Oxford Mail. He also edited DEFRA’s magazine Environmental Management.
