London Tonight, the revamped ITV regional news bulletin taken over by ITN last October, saw a slight rise to an average audience of 431,000 and a 14.5 per cent viewing share during its first week under new management.
According to unofficial overnight figures for the week commencing 1 March, the 6.30pm bulletin’s audience rose by 2 per cent week-on-week.
This compared with rival bulletin BBC London News which had 861,000 viewers and a 29 per cent share, dipping from 873,000 in the previous week.
In the week before relaunch, London Tonight’s audience averaged 421,000, a 13.9 per cent viewing share.
The London Tonight 10.30pm bulletin put on an extra 10,000 viewers on average in the launch week.
The new 6.30pm London Tonight bulletin is presented by Alistair Stewart and former ITV News anchor Katie Derham.
