The journalists’ church of St Brides, Fleet Street, will be the venue for a service of thanksgiving for the life of John Womersley.
The former Daily Mail executive died in April, aged 71, after his car was struck by a train on an unmanned level crossing near his home in southern France.
Womersley began his career on the South Wales Echo and Manchester Evening Chronicle before moving to London where he worked on the Daily Sketch and the Daily Mail. Positions held on the Mail included news editor, northern editor and assistant editor.
He retired to the south of France in 1987 and was married three times.
The memorial service will be held at noon on Tuesday, 9 September.
