Hobson takes the helm at Shares

By Press Gazette

Investment magazine Shares has promoted deputy editor Rodney Hobson to editor after just three months in the job.

He joined before Christmas and replaces Ross Greenwood, who has returned to Australia to join Channel 9.

Reporter Polly Ferguson has moved up to deputy editor. Hobson, pictured right, hopes to print more company profiles and tips for investors.

Before joining Shares, Hobson was head of news at financial website Citywire and news editor on The Times’ business news section. He has also freelanced for the Daily Mail and The Times. “We had a redesign last year, so I don’t propose to do anything drastic,” he said. “We will be looking at what our readers want and, in particular, I want to make sure we give them plenty of tips.

I think readers want guidance on investment, particularly with the current threat of war.

“We hope that when the market picks up, we can expand further.”
