Ostler leaves People News

By Press Gazette

Caterine Ostler

Catherine Ostler, editor of PeopleNews.com, is leaving the celebrity gossip site this week to freelance, after receiving a "great offer" from the Daily Mail to write features for the Associated title.

She was a feature writer on its sister, The Mail on Sunday, for two and half years, from 1994 to 1996, before going to edit the Express Saturday Magazine.

Having then moved to edit The Times Weekend section, she was poached by PeopleNews, which she helped set up for six months before its launch in September last year.

PeopleNews is now looking at a new TV-format structure (see Cyberview, page 8) and Ostler feels her job there is done. "It was a maintenance job, really," she quipped.

After editing for five years, she has missed writing – at the Saturday Magazine she still wrote a column. Now she will write for magazines as well as the Mail, where she will work to deputy editor (features) Veronica Wadley.
