Laura Kuenssberg gets BBC Sunday morning slot

Andrew Marr hosted the slot for 16 years.

Laura Kuenssberg will take over the BBC Sunday morning TV politics slot in September after the recent departure of Andrew Marr, who hosted the slot for 16 years.

The BBC said the show would get a new look alongside its new presenter, including set, title, music and format.

Kuenssberg, who is stepping down as BBC News political editor after the May local elections, said: “I couldn’t be more delighted. For decades Sunday morning has been the moment to explore the events that shape us and to challenge and listen to our politicians. It’s an honour to take the chair for that conversation in the 2020s.”

Interim BBC director of news Jonathan Munro said Kuenssberg was perfect for the role as she is an “engaging presenter and a razor-sharp political interviewer”.

The programme’s interim presenter Sophie Raworth will continue in its current guise under the Sunday Morning name until Parliament breaks for its summer recess.
