Katty Kay rejoins BBC

Kay had joined Ozy in May 2021.

Katty Kay, the former BBC News anchor and correspondent who left to join US digital media company Ozy in May 2021, has rejoined the BBC.

She left Ozy after just three months last year after the New York Times reported allegations that an Ozy executive had tried to mislead an investor.

She said the allegations, “which caught me by surprise, are serious and deeply troubling, and I had no choice but to end my relationship with the company”.

Kay has now joined BBC Studios as US special correspondent and will host TV documentaries from the US and Europe, present a podcast series, and write a weekly online column. She will also front occasional BBC News coverage of major events such as the US midterm elections. The BBC said her first documentary project will “focus on the fate of democracy in the United States”.
