By Press Gazette

Daily Mail chief political columnist Peter Oborne has been poached by the Daily Telegraph and will start a regular column with the paper from September.

Oborne started out at the magazine Financial Weekly, and has worked for the Evening Standard, the Daily Express, the Sunday Express and the Daily Mail. He was political editor of the Spectator for five years and remains an associate editor of the magazine.

Telegraph editor Tony Gallagher said: “Peter is a world renowned writer and commentator. I am looking forward to him joining the Telegraph team.”

Oborne said: “It has been a privilege to work for the Daily Mail. I am delighted to join the award-winning Telegraph as it continues to go from strength to strength.”
