Ex-prison worker arrested in Operation Elveden corruption probe

By Darren Boyle

Operation Elveden detectives have arrested a former prison worker as part of their probe into corrupt payments by newspapers to public officials.

The 66-year old man has been taken from his home in Buckinghamshire to a police station in Thames Valley.

The man is the 84th person to be held as part of Operation Elveden. He is being questioned about receiving money from journalists for providing stories.

The man is a former member of HM Prison Service staff and was bailed to a date in May 2014.

The Elveden probe is running alongside Operation Weeting, which is concerned with phone-hacking and Operation Tuleta which concentrates on computer-hacking and privacy breaches.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is supervising the three operations.
