Guardian News and Media head of digital marketing Steve Wing has been appointed to the new job of business director, mobile.
GNM said that his job will be to increase growth of the mobile, tablet and e-Reader side of the business, 'ensuring that the overall portfolio supports the Guardian's reputation for award winning journalism, design and digital innovation".
GNM commercial executive director Adam Freeman: 'It has been an incredible year for the Guardian on mobile, one that included the launch of our iPad edition and finished with record-breaking mobile traffic.
'Mobile is one of our fastest growing areas and our readers can now view and engage with our content on more platforms than ever before. Steve has played a critical role in our strategy to date and in his new role will focus on further expanding the Guardian's reach and revenues on mobile platforms."
Wing joined Guardian Unlimited as launch advertising manager in 1999 and has since worked as head of advertising strategy and head of digital marketing.
He is to be one of the speakers at News on Move, a Press Conference organised in association with Thomson Reuters on 7 March about journalism on smartphones.
