Why Babs is a big hit for great of the good

Editors are generally considered to be pretty hard-nosed characters – so it was revealing to see so many at Barbara Streisand’s O2 gig in London last week.

Going dewy-eyed to such hits as "The Way We Were", and sharing a box, were editors including the News of the World’s Colin Myler, Glamour’s Jo Elvin, Roger Alton from The Observer, Matthew D’Ancona from The Spectator and Mr and Mrs Simon Kelner (The Independent).

Naturally, they weren’t footing the up to £550 ticket price themselves – but were sipping champagne courtesy of showbiz PR Gary Farrow and his wife, Sun columnist Jane Moore.

Apparently, more than a dozen editors were present at the party they hosted at the event.
