Former Travel Trade Gazette editor Phil Davies has secured a part-time position as news editor of online travel industry news service TravelMole.
Initially working two days a week, Davies will be able to continue other activities for his travel industry consultancy business which he set up in October.
Of his new appointment Davies said: “I had been thinking of making the break for some time. This is a great opportunity to take the travel press forward by supplying daily online news for subscribers and I want to be part of the success story. I feel very lucky to have such a good start.”
As well as providing daily online service for travel agents, tour operators and the travel industry in general, the TravelMole plans to organise seminars, debates and other events.
Davies hopes to draw on his expertise in organising and publicising travel events and his extensive knowledge and contacts within the industry.
He added: “I have a good name in the business and through my years of experience I am sure I will be able to open many a door for TravelMole.”
Davies continues to work as freelance, as well as carrying out project work for Thomson Holidays and a number of travel PR companies.
He left Travel Trade Gazette after 19 years last summer after the announcement of radical plans to distinguish it from rival title Travel Weekly.
