Today up, Five breakfast down

By Press Gazette

BBC
Radio Four’s Today Programme has increased reach on the last quarter
from 6.01 to 6.15 million. This is the first rise after four
consecutive falls in ratings but the programme is down year on year by
215,000 listeners.

Overall Radio 4’s reach is 9.4 million –
stable on the quarter (9.4m) and the year (9.5m). The figure is still
behind the 10 million recorded in the run-up to the Iraq war.

Share is 11.5 per cent, up slightly on the quarter (11.3 per cent) and stable on the year (11.5 per cent).

Radio
Five’s breakfast programme, presented by Nicky Campbell and Shelagh
Fogarty, is down on the quarter by just over 400,000 listeners to a
2.18m reach. Radio Five Live (which reports a combined share and reach
with the digital service Five Live Sports Extra ) has a reach of 6.1m,
down on last quarter’s 6.5m which included the Olympics, but relatively
stable on the year (6.2m).

Share at 4.4 per cent followed the same pattern, down on the quarter (5 per cent) but stable on the year (4.4 per cent).

TalkSport’s
breakfast programme presented by Alan Brazil and Graham Beecroft is
down on the quarter by 120,000 to 786,000. Overall TalkSport is up from
1.4 to 1.6 per cent in market share and up 7 per cent in weekly reach
over the same quarter last year.

LBC 97.3 also reports lower
figures, loosing 35,000 listeners from last quarter to 281,000. LBC’s
rolling news station, LBC News 1152, is also down quarter on quarter
from 137,000 to 97,000.
