Liverpool’s dramatic comeback to clinch the European Cup has led to
a sales bonanza for Trinity Mirror’s Liverpool Echo and Liverpool Daily
Post.
Both newspapers reported record sales in the wake of the victory.
More
than 66,000 extra copies of the Echo were sold on the Thursday after
the match – 46 per cent up on the previous week. The day’s sale was
more than 206,000 copies. The Daily Post increased its sales by over
100 per cent after the print run was doubled to 50,000 copies.
And
on the Friday, when the Echo carried a victory parade supplement, an
extra 36,000 copies were sold compared to the previous week. The Post
was up by 59 per cent.
