The Times has admitted it “exaggerated” a report in February
that Conservative election advisor Lynton Crosby believed the party had
no chance of winning the expected general election.
Crosby filed a libel writ over the story headlined “Election is already lost, top advisor tells Howard”.
This week, the dispute was said to have been resolved “amicably”.
The
Times printed a clarification admitting that the article was “an
exaggeration of the advice The Times understood Mr Crosby had given to
the Tory leadership”.
