The Yorkshire Evening Post has chalked up a hat-trick of wins in the Johnston Press awards.
The Leeds title won the daily newspaper of the year award for the third year in a row.
Judges said it was chosen because “it consistently broke big national exclusives telling powerful stories which it presented in a readable way throughout its pages”.
The winning weekly was the Hemel Gazette. The Mansfield Chad won the best weekly sales performance for a 22.4 per cent ABC increase. The Scarborough Evening News was the best-performing daily newspaper in the group.
Trainee journalist of the year was Bethany Usher of the Sunderland Echo.
Other winners included: Lancashire Evening Post for best daily front page; Morecambe Visitor, for best weekly front page; best editorial content on a website, Peterborough today, produced by the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
