The Business in bid to boost sales with mag giveaway deal

By Press Gazette

By Dominic Ponsford

The Business is bidding to boost its newsagent sales by giving away
copies of Time, Fortune, The Week, Condé Nast Traveller and Tatler.

The cover price of the weekly paper is increasing from 70p to £1.50
at the London newsagents where the promotion is taking place.

On
6 February The Business will come with a copy of Fortune magazine, and
for the following three weeks it will have The Week included as well as
either Condé Nast Traveller , Tatler or Time.

Managing director
Paul Woolfenden said: “We are very excited by this new distribution
deal, which provides worldclass magazines every week with The Business.
We are constantly striving for creative and non-traditional ways to
build circulation and increase the value that we offer both to our
readers and to advertisers.”

In 2003 The Business boosted its
circulation by 130,000 after striking up a deal to be given away inside
the Mail on Sunday in certain areas.

The deal was scrapped after
six months and now The Business’ ABC figure is largely made up of
copies which are delivered directly to more affluent homes in London.
