Suspicion over Hutton Report printer for MPs expenses leak

By Dominic wireposts

The Mail on Sunday speculates that the source for the Telegraph’s series of scoops on MPs expenses stems from the same printing plant where the leaked Hutton Report was printed.

The Hutton report into the death of Dr David Kelly was leaked to The Sun on the eve of its publication in 2004.

Since Friday, the Telegraph has been leading the news agenda with a series of devestating scoops going into every detail of MPs’ expenses claims.

They are believed to have come from a source who had details of all MPs’ expenses and has been touting them to various Fleet Street newspapers.

The MoS says that 1.2 million expenses receipts were sent to the Parliamentary Press in South London to be digitised.

Scotland Yard is currently considering whether to mount a criminal investigation into the leak of the expenses details.

The Mail on Sunday says it was not offered the disc but the Express and The Times definitely were. The Sun is also believed to have been approached.
