Strike averted at Leicester Mercury after pay deal

Journalists at the Leicester Mercury have settled their pay dispute a month after voting in favour of industrial action.

The Northcliffe-owned newspaper has revealed that journalists have accepted the original pay offer of three per cent dating back to 1 October.

Mercury editor Nick Carter said: “I am pleased the threat of action that could have hindered the progress we are trying to make on newspaper sales has been lifted.”
