The London Evening Standard has recruited Richard Porritt as an executive news editor as part of a series of senior editorial changes.
Porritt joins the Standard from Mail Online, the website of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, where he is currently deputy news editor.
Prior to joining Mail Online, Porritt was night editor at Press Association and was also previously investigations editor at the Huddersfield Daily Examiner and a reporter at the South London Press.
His arrival heralds a number of other editorial changes on the paper.
Jack Lefley, currently executive news editor at the Standard, has been promoted to deputy news editor while assistant news editor Bo Wilson has been promoted to overnight news editor.
The Standard has also appointed Tom Harper as investigations reporter.
Harper joins from the Mail on Sunday, where he won the British Press Awards 2009 Young Journalist of the Year prize. Prior to that he worked at The Sunday Telegraph.
