Sportsman managing director Max Aitken has quit the paper less than three months after its launch.
The paper is so far less than half way to the 40,000 target circulation it needs to break even.
Aitken,
29, is the grandson of Lord Beaverbrook who owned the Daily Express in
its heyday. According to official sources at the title, there is no
crisis and Aitken (pictured right, with editor Charlie Methven and Jeremy Deedes) has left because he is a business start-up
specialist.
Sportsman executives are hoping the paper will flourish as interest in sports betting is expected to peak during the World Cup.
