Sky News appoints Joey Jones as deputy political editor

Sky News has appointed Joey Jones to the newly-created role as political editor Adam Boulton’s deputy.

Jones, who is currently a political correspondent for the satellite news outlet, will take up the new deputy political editor role in September.

He said: “Having spent almost all my journalistic career at Sky News, I am delighted to be taking on such a prominent role.

“I am confident that with the help of Adam and the rest of the political team, we will dominate journalistically this most exciting period at Westminster.”

Jones, who was ranked 43rd in a recent Press Gazette poll of the top 50 political reporters working in British journalism, started his career as a reporter at BBC Radio Devon in 1997 before moving to report for the Euronews channel, based in Lyon, the following year.

He began as a freelance for Sky News in 1999 and became a full-time member of staff in 2002.
