Independent on Sunday editor-at-large Janet Street-Porter has become the latest in a series of commentators to accuse BBC Radio 4 of ignoring Britain’s diversity.
Responding to an interview with new Woman’s Hour host Jane Garvey in last week’s Guardian, Street-Porter says: “If you listen to Radio 4, you’d think that being middle class meant being white, and middle aged or elderly.
“Nine times out of 10, when blacks or Asians get on Today, it’s because they’re social workers or community leaders.”
