Daily Mail journalists Nick and Lucy Mason have launched a public relations and marketing company in the northwest, Mason Media.
Nick,
34, a former deputy news editor and northern news editor on the Mail,
left the paper in November after more than seven years. Lucy, also 34,
was on staff at the Mail in the late 90s and has freelanced for the
paper ever since, specialising in health and nutrition.
Nick
said: “We are providing a different kind of service to businesses.
Rather than firing off hundreds of e-mails to all sorts of places, we
concentrate on getting results for clients by targeting the right
journalists.
“We have dealt with a lot of PR from the other side
of the fence, and believed that there was a gap in the market for a
much more focused agency, working with contacts in the national and
regional media.”
The pair have attracted more than 15 companies
in Merseyside and Cheshire as well as a number of UK clients, including
four in the London area.
