The first editor of Petuaria Press, a quarterly full-colour free newspaper circulating around East Yorkshire’s fastest-growing community, has resigned after almost eight years.
Journalist Tony Barker launched the parish council-funded publication – which serves more than 4,000 homes in Elloughton-cum-Brough – in October 1999 as a spare-time activity.
Barker edited the Press while also holding down a full-time public relations job and had published 28 issues by the time he stepped down last month.
He has been appointed to restore a full-time PR service at Macclesfield Borough Council in Cheshire.
This will include reintroducing a council newspaper to serve 70,000 homes in the east Cheshire borough.
