PA’s on the ball in World Cup

By Press Gazette

More than 40 newspapers in the UK and Ireland have published Rugby World Cup supplements provided page-ready by the Press Association.

Two preview supplements were supplied by PA Sports page-ready team – a 16-page pre-tournament guide and an eight-page preview produced on the eve of England’s World Cup Final victory.

The supplements were the latest in a series of sports preview supplements provided free to regional newspapers by the Press Association throughout 2003.

The cost of producing the supplements is met by national sponsors secured by PA.

David Balmforth, PA’s sports editor, said: ” The sponsorship model allows us to provide regional titles with high quality supplements free of charge and to deadlines that suit them. All we ask of customers is that they retain the sponsors’ branding.”

Content for the supplements is written by PA sport specialists and produced by a team of designers and sub-editors based at its new operations centre in East Yorkshire.
