NoW appoints new defence correspondent

The News of the World has promoted Paul McNamara to defence correspondent replacing Ryan Sabey who is leaving the newspaper to join The Sun.

McNamara joined the News International Sunday redtop in September last year as a trainee.

Since then he has worked on a number of high profile campaigns including Save Our Streets and the Children’s Champions awards.

Before joining the News of the World, McNamara worked for the Luton Herald & Post and the Bedford Times & Citizen. He also previously worked in New York for the Daily News as crime reporter and with the agency Big Apple.

Before starting in journalism McNamara worked in investment banking.
