A digital indie music radio station is to be latest brand extension for NME, IPC Ignite announced today.
NME Radio will launch in mid-2008 on various national digital broadcast platforms, and on NME.com, the company said.
The station will be a presenter-driven 24/7 alternative music service produced in a strategic partnership between IPC and DX Media, which is headed by XFM founder Sammy Jacob.
The station will broadcast from new DX Media studios at IPC’s Blue Fin Building in Southwark.
NME publishing director Paul Cheal said: ‘For NME, it’s the next logical step. With an average readership of 499,000 each week and 1.6m unique users on NME.com every month, the NME brand already has fantastic reach amongst an audience who are notoriously difficult to target.”

Last month, NME launched a satellite television service, NME TV.
