Johnston Press’s network of 323 regional newspaper websites averaged 8.2 million monthly unique users in 2007, company’s annual report (PDF) revealed today.
That was up about 24 per cent from 6.6 million users in 2006, and 2.2 million in 2005. Page impressions were up 53 per cent to 87.3 million per month.
Digital advertising revenue accounted for £15.1 million of Johnston Press’s revenue, up by a third from £11.3 million in 2006.
Print advertising revenue still accounted for the lion’s share of the comapany’s income, at £401.5 million, down from £409.9 million in 2006. Newspaper sales accounted for another £102.4 million of the company’s income.
In January, Trinity Mirror claimed 4.3 million unique users across its network of regional sites, a figure up 67 per cent year on year. The same month, Northcliffe Media claimed 2.74 million visitors to its 50 sites. Newsquest’s 180 sites attracted a combined audience of 4.8 million unique users in December, according to parent company Gannett.
