Colombian authorities have arrested a politician in connection with the 1998 murder of radio journalist Nelson Carvajal, reports the International Herald Tribune.
Carvajal, also a teacher, was shot as he left school in April 1998. He had a radio opinion program that was strongly critical of political corruption in Columbia.
Carlos Augusto Rojas, a Conservative Party member and the president of the Huila Assembly, has been arrested on suspicion of masterminding the murder.
