New name for Press Association

By Press Gazette

The Press Association Limited is to change its name to PA Group Limited.

The
name change follows the recent acquisition of worldwide weather
forecasting business Meteo Consult and the development of sales
operations across Asia.

According to the company, which was
founded in 1868 by a group of provincial newspaper proprietors, the new
name “communicates the scope of the organisation as a group of
companies with a wide range of services”.

The Press Association
brand will continue to be used for the group’s news agency operation.
The group’s other divisions: PA Sport, PA Business, PA Entertainment
and PA Group Photos will be linked to the PA Group brand through name
and graphic identity.

Sir Harry Roche, PA Group chairman, said:
“The group’s expansion into a diversified information business has seen
it outgrow the Press Association name. The PA Group brand will lead the
group forward in its international focus.”
