New chairman at DC Thomson

By Press Gazette

By Hamish Mackay

Andrew Thomson is the new chairman of Dundee-based publishing group
DC Thomson, whose publications include the Sunday Post, Dundee Courier
and The Beano.

Thomson joined the family business in 1964 and has been a director
since 1974. He replaces Brian Thomson, 86, who has stepped down because
of illhealth after leading the group for more than 50 years.

His son, Christopher Thomson, 54, moves up to deputy chairman. He has been with the company since 1976.

The Thomson family dynasty was said to be worth £302 million in this week’s Sunday Times Rich List 2005.
