“Election in a year†announced The Sun’s headline after Gordon Brown was crowned as Labour leader.
The “exclusive†was claimed by the paper’s political editor George Pascoe Watson.
This was the same Pascoe Watson who confidently wrote a splash back in September revealing that Tony Blair would leave on 31 May, which has since turned out to be more than three weeks wide of the mark.
Still, the Mystic Meg of the lobby appears to have learnt a few lessons.
He predicts the “most likely†poll date is next June, but adds that Brown could “shock the nation with a snap poll this autumnâ€. So, it could be pretty much anytime really.
