Morgan became an MBE in 2002
After 19 years of covering the national and regional newspaper industry for Press Gazette, chief reporter Jean Morgan is retiring.
Morgan, who will be 67 at the end of March, became an MBE for her services to journalism in the 2002 New Year Honours. She has seen off six editors and four owners of the magazine but has decided the time has come to enjoy her retirement.
“I’ve loved almost every minute of it but this really is the official resignation letter,” she wrote to editor Ian Reeves this week. “I hope Press Gazette goes from strength to strength and brings in loads more readers.”
Reeves said: “I’ve done everything I can to persuade Jean there are plenty more great splashes in her yet, but her mind is made up. It seems the lady’s not for turning.”
