Miami Herald scraps plans to outsource subbing work to India

The Miami Herald has scrapped its plans to outsource some subediting functions to a company in India, Editor & Publisher reports today.

“The more we looked at the prospects of editing and layout from outside the newsroom, the more it was clear these skills involving news judgment and experience are not likely to work well from afar,” editor Anders Gyllenhaal wrote in a memo to staff reported by E&P.
