Media Business closure

By Press Gazette

Haymarket has closed Media Business, the B2B media title which launched off the back of Campaign.

The closure, announced just before Christmas, will affect 15 staff, including nine editorial.

The move follows a spate of redundancies across the company.

But Jane Macken, managing director of Campaign Publications, said Haymarket would find alternative jobs for all staff affected by the closure.

Macken praised the editorial team and said the whole market was struggling. "We were very sad to close Media Business obviously. It was highly respected in the industry but there was not enough advertising revenue to sustain it in the long run," she said.

The closure follows a relaunch which involved switch to A5 size and dropping the Campaign logo from its title. Macken said there were no plans to incorporate any of the title’s content into Campaign. "Campaign already has very strong media coverage," she said.
