Launch date for Belfast Telegraph’s morning edition

By Press Gazette

The Belfast Telegraph enters Northern Ireland’s crowded morning newspaper market from Tuesday(March 22).
The move follows the launch in February of
Nationalist morning title Daily Ireland. And it comes ahead
of the expected launch of a new cross-community tabloid morning paper
in Belfast called Daily View on 4 April.
Belfast Telegraph editor Edmund Curran said: “Our
initial move into the morning market with the launch of the Saturday
paper on 19th February has proved very successful and circulation gains
are most encouraging.
“As a result we have decided to introduce the new
daily morning paper on 22nd March. Our experience of the weekend market
has revealed a desire for the Telegraph to be available throughout the
day and we are confident that our arrival on the daily morning news
stands will be equally well received.”
Early estimates suggest the launch of a morning
edition of the Telegraph on Saturdays has boosted sales on that day by
around 30 per cent.
