Robin Miller, former chief executive of Emap, is knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to publishing and broadcasting, writes Mary Stevens.
Miller, above, was once editor of Motor Cycle News before he took over the periodicals division of what was then the East Midland Allied Press. He went on to head the company as it grew into one of the biggest publishers in the UK. He retired from his position as chief executive earlier this year.
He said: “You feel a bit of a fraud because there are so many unsung heroes who should be getting awards. But it’s not just for me, it’s for the thousands of friends and colleagues who helped change Emap into such a huge, successful company.”
Grower magazine editor Peter Rogers receives an OBE for his services to horticultural journalism. He joined the weekly magazine in 1967 and became editor in 1980.
