Judges reveal Magazine Design Awards shortlists

By Press Gazette

By Alyson Fixter

The shortlist for this year’s Magazine Design Awards has been
unveiled, following a day of heated debate by a panel of 28
distinguished judges from across the newspaper and publishing
industries.

More than 400 entries have been whittled down to shortlists of six
in each of the 17 categories, including Best Designed Fashion Pages and
Best Designed Launch.

Some of the year’s big launch stories –
Grazia, Pick Me Up and Easy Living – feature in the shortlists, as well
as longrunning titles such as Loaded, New Scientist and Radio Times,
while a wide range of B2B magazines, including Health Service Journal,
Property Week and Architects Journal, are also represented.

The
judging panel, which included Eamonn McCabe, Terry Mansfield, Peter
Blegvad, Jan Brown, David Hepworth and David King, met at Freud
Communications on Friday, 29 September to thrash out the final lists,
with the winners announced on Wednesday, 2 November at The Brewery,
Covent Garden.
