ITV’s broadband local television wants to work with regional newspaper groups, says its managing director.
“We’re happy to discuss it with local newspaper groups and work together where it makes sense,” ITV Local managing director Mohammed Raja told Press Gazette.
Raja conceded that the relatively small staff and each region’s large coverage area meant that ITV Local’s offerings would be considerably less “ultralocal” than what newspapers could provide.
ITV Local’s service began with a trial in the Meridian region in the South East last year, and has since been rolled out to other ITV regions. When rolled out nationwide, it hopes to generate one million unique users a month.
