Stuart Thomas, a former editor of LBC Radio, has been appointed editor of the forthcoming ITN-produced London news service.
Thomas was ITN’s youngest ever editor at 27 while in charge of LBC 1152AM and News Direct between 2000 and 2002, before their sale to Chrysalis Group. Prior to that he was news editor at ITN’s radio arm, Independent Radio News.
More recently Thomas was news editor on Channel 4 breakfast show RI:SE – scrapped this week – before rejoining ITN at ITV News.
Thomas joins the London news operation with immediate effect to oversee the transition from London News Network to a new editorial outfit.
Once the service is up and running he will have responsibility for the flagship programme London Tonight, as well as the London regional news daytime bulletins.
ITN said it hoped Thomas’s time as editor of LBC and “a detailed knowledge of the issues that affect Londoners” would stand him in good stead.
